Hi, I'm Dr. Carter. I'm glad you're here.
Choosing a therapist is deeply personal, so let me tell you a little about how I work. My approach is warm, direct, and collaborative. You will never be a diagnosis on a chart to me — you're a whole person with a story, and my job is to help you understand and rewrite the parts of it that hurt.
Over the past twelve years I've helped more than nine hundred adults, couples, and teens navigate anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship difficulties. I blend cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), EMDR, and emotionally focused therapy (EFT), always adapting the approach to what actually works for you — because no single method fits every person.
Outside the office you'll find me hiking the greenbelt with my rescue dog, tending an unreasonably ambitious vegetable garden, and reminding myself to practice what I preach about rest.

What you can expect in our work together
You set the pace
We go only as deep and as fast as feels right for you. Therapy should feel challenging at times — never unsafe.
Real-world tools
Insight matters, but so does Tuesday afternoon. You'll leave sessions with practical skills you can actually use.
Honest partnership
We regularly review what's working and what isn't. If I'm not the right fit, I'll help you find someone who is.
